HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING...

I have this friend, who is totally amazing...an absolute treasure deserving of a happily ever after. She's smart, beautiful, witty, kind, adventurous and brave...among many other wonderful things. I admire her a great deal, and am proud and grateful to call her friend.

Her life's not easy, but she keeps pounding away, working her ass off while raising three beautiful children, maintaining an exceptional sense of humour and nurturing friendships...and I suspect nurturing untold numbers of acquaintances. Love of the romantical hero type hasn't been kind to her. Yet, she never rang that bell. She's got high expectations, and so she should!!!

I can't think of many people more deserving of a true partner to share her life with. Someone who proves they are ready to be there for her. To share her highs and lows, joys and sorrows, laugh with her when the times are grand, and cry with her when it sucks fucking bad. A man strong and able...who trusts her enough to count on her, knowing she will stand beside him while life dishes out whatever it may; a hero who will carry her when she needs to be carried.

I think her happily ever after is staring her in the face...actually, I think he's kinda jumping up and down, waving his arms, hinting a blue streak and hoping for the almight GO signal...but, it's complicated. Isn't it always?

Happily ever after doesn't come easily. Sometimes there are stops and new starts. Sometimes we hold ourselves back because we're afraid, distracted, or it doesn't look the way we expected. If this weren't a hypothetical situation....*snicker* I'd hope she reads this post carefully, really absorbs what I've said about her. 'Cuz she's reminding me of an old joke...

As the hurricane approached, police went door to door with evacuation orders. One man refused to leave his home. A man of great faith, he felt safe in his belief that, "The Lord will save me."

When the streets became flooded, he climbed to the second story of his house. A neighbour had an eighteen wheeler truck and urged him to hop aboard to make his escape. But the man turned him away, again vowing, "The Lord will save me."

Still the waters rose and the man climbed to the third story of his house. A rescue boat came by and begged him to get in. Yet again, he refused to leave, firmly stating, "The Lord will save me."

As he stood on the roof, watching the flood rise above his waist, a helicopter hovered above. He sent them away..."The Lord will save me!"

When he got to the Pearly Gates, he asked St. Peter why the Lord didn't save a true believer such as himself.

Shaking his head, St. Peter sighed deeply and said, "He sent you a cop, a truck, a boat and a helicopter. What the heck more did you want Him to do???"
